Nebraska’s Pelini gets extension through 2014

Pelini, who guided the Cornhuskers to a 9-4 mark in 2008, his first year with the school, will make $1.851 million annually. The deal will make him the sixth-highest paid head coach in the Big 12 Conference.

His original contract, which he signed after being hired on December 2, 2007, was for five years and was worth $1.1 million a season.

Wolverines QB Sheridan to miss practice time with leg injury

Sheridan, who started the final three contests last season and four overall, was injured at practice session on Tuesday afternoon.

“He’s got a small fracture in his lower leg,” Rodriguez said. “According to the trainer’s talk it’s not a displaced fracture so he doesn’t have to have surgery.

Bellotti resigns as Oregon football coach, will become AD

Bellotti will become the athletic director on July 1, at which time offensive coordinator Chip Kelly will take over as the new head coach.

In the interim, Bellotti will serve as a senior counselor to current athletic director Pat Kilkenny.

Colorado State suspends LB Brewer for 2009 season

Due to privacy issues, the university did not specify the nature of Brewer?s infraction. He will continue to practice with the Rams during his suspension.

“I made an error in judgment, and I’m extremely sorry for what I did,” Brewer said.

Report: Crabtree opts for early surgery, won’t run for scouts

The procedure, which was reported by NFL.com on Sunday, is expected to keep the receiver out of commission for at least 10 weeks, keeping Crabtree from participating at Texas Tech’s pro day later this month.

Originally projected as one of the first picks in the 2009 NFL Draft, Crabtree will not be ready until training camp for whichever team selects him in April.
