Brady becomes Patriots’ all-time leading passer

Brady needed 163 yards coming into Monday’s 38-17 loss to New Orleans to pass Bledsoe.

Brady, who had thrown for at least 300 yards in his previous five contests, connected on 21-of-36 passes for 237 yards and no touchdowns. He passed Bledsoe with an 11-yard connection to Sam Aiken early in the third quarter.

Unbeaten Saints Brees past Patriots

Monday’s matchup featured two of the league’s most prolific offenses over the past three seasons, but the Saints showed why they are in an elite class this year.

Brees connected on 18-of-23 throws for 371 yards, as the Saints thrived with big offensive plays and also picked off Tom Brady twice.

Report: Bowden to announce retirement Tuesday

The Tallahassee Democrat reported Monday night that Bowden will announce his retirement.

The newspaper reports Bowden is expected to be offered a non- coaching position at the school for an unspecified amount of time. He’s also reportedly entitled to $1 million upon his retirement as part of a clause in his coaching contract.

Cardinals QB Warner to see eye doctor

Warner was inactive for the game after taking a blow to the head in Arizona’s game against St. Louis in Week 11, though he practiced throughout the week.

On Monday, Warner was still having eye issues, saying he had a fogginess that wasn’t normal.

Saints without Bush for Monday’s game

Bush will miss his second straight contest. He did not play last week against Tampa Bay because of a bruised right knee.

So far this season, Bush has rushed 55 times for 277 yards and five touchdowns. He has also caught 29 passes for 207 yards and a score.

Giants LB Pierce placed on IR

An MRI exam diagnosed the condition on November 20, and the team originally said Pierce would be out indefinitely but decided his injury was such that he could not return this season.

Pierce suffered the injury on October 25 against Arizona, but it was not thought to be serious.

Redskins’ Cooley, Jarmon head to IR

Additionally, running back Clinton Portis has been ruled out for Sunday’s game against New Orleans.

Cooley suffered a fractured right ankle in the Redskins’ October 26 loss to Philadelphia, and underwent surgery two days later. He was expected to recover in about four weeks, but the team, which is 3-8 so far this season, opted not to rush him back.

Eagles’ Jackson ‘OK’ after concussion

Jackson made a reception over the middle late in the third quarter and left the game for good after taking a big hit from Redskins linebacker London Fletcher.

“He doesn’t feel bad today,” said Reid, who also added Jackson did not lose consciousness.
