Seahawks release recently acquired LenDale White

“It became apparent at this time that LenDale was not ready to be a member of the Seattle Seahawks,” team general manager John Schneider said in a statement.

“It just did not appear to be the right fit at this point in our program. We wish LenDale all the best with his future.” White played for new Seahawks coach Pete Carroll at Southern California and spent four seasons with the Tennessee Titans. The 2006 second-round draft pick had a breakout 2007 season with 1,110 rushing yards, then ran for 773 yards and scored 15 touchdowns in 2008.

Cowboys’ Sensabaugh signs tender

Sensabaugh served as Dallas’ starting strong safety last season and racked up 66 tackles, eight passes defensed and an interception in 15 games while playing with a broken thumb for much of the year.

His salary for 2010 is a non-guaranteed $1.815 million.

Saints TE Shockey taken to hospital

The Times-Picayune is reporting Shockey was rushed by ambulance to Ochsner Health System after suffering seizure-like symptoms in the team’s weight room following morning practice.

The report did not say how long Shockey might remain in the hospital. Teammate Darren Sharper was quoted in the story as saying Shockey was doing fine. Sharper was on hand in the weight room at the time of the incident and indicated Shockey was affected for about a minute while team trainers tended to him.

Roethlisberger reinstated, cleared to return to Steelers next week

“Commissioner [Roger] Goodell informed us today that based on the information he received from the clinical evaluations, he has cleared Ben Roethlisberger to return to the Steelers’ facility to take part in both meetings and practices. We look forward to having Ben re-join his teammates on the practice field,” Steelers president Art Rooney II said in a released statement.

In April, the NFL suspended Roethlisberger without pay for six games for violating the league’s personal conduct policy after being accused of sexual assault by a 20-year-old woman at a Georgia nightclub.

Patriots bring back LB Burgess

The upcoming 2010 season will be Burgess’ 10th in the NFL after stints with the Philadelphia Eagles (2001-2004), Oakland Raiders (2005-2008) and last year in New England, where he logged 35 tackles and five sacks in 16 games.

The 31-year-old Ole Miss product was a third-round pick of the Eagles in 2001. In 101 career games, Burgess has totaled 262 total tackles, 52 sacks, six forced fumbles and five fumble recoveries.

Dolphins cut ties with LB Torbor

Torbor, 29, appeared in all 16 games for the Dolphins last season — his secondwith the club — and compiled 37 tackles, one sack and one interception.

The Auburn product spent his first four seasons with the New York Giants, who selected him with their fourth-round pick in the 2004 draft.

Tillman, Howard headline 2010 College Football Hall of Fame class

A total of 12 players and two coaches from the Football Bowl Subdivision (formerly Division I-A) were selected for this year’s Hall of Fame class.

Joining the late Tillman and Howard in the 2010 class are North Carolina State defensive tackle Dennis Byrd, Arkansas center Ronnie Caveness, Texas A&M defensive lineman Ray Childress, UCLA offensive guard Randy Cross, USC running back Sam Cunningham, Purdue quarterback Mark Herrmann, Duke wide receiver Clarkston Hines, Navy defensive back Chet Moeller, LSU halfback Jerry Stovall, and Colorado linebacker Alfred Williams.

Chargers DT Johnson signs tender

Johnson played in 13 games for San Diego last season and registered 16 tackles and a pass deflection.

The 28-year-old previously spent four years with the Texans and has 122 tackles, two sacks and nine passes defensed in 67 career NFL contests.

Redskins’ Doughty signs tender

Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but the Washington Post reported it is for approximately $1.75 million.

Doughty played in 15 games (nine starts) last season, posting a career-high 93 tackles, two sacks, one interception, and one fumble recovery before he landed on injured reserve in Week 17 with an ankle injury.

Shanahan not worried about Moss situation

Moss wouldn’t discuss non-football issues after the Redskins’ organized team activities on Wednesday, but Shanahan commented when asked.

“I sat down and talked to Santana earlier today and went through a bunch of situations that have happened to him,” said Shanahan.
